**Priyanka Nair** is an Indian actress who predominantly works in the [Malayalam film industry](/source/Malayalam_cinema).[1] She made her debut in the [Tamil](/source/Tamil_cinema) film *[Veyyil](/source/Veyil_(2006_film))* in 2006.[2] She won the 2008 [Kerala State Film Award](/source/Kerala_State_Film_Awards) for best actress for her role in *[Vilapangalkappuram](/source/Vilapangalkappuram)*.[3]

## Early and personal life

Priyanka completed her [Higher Secondary School Certificate](/source/Higher_Secondary_School_Certificate) studies and studied [Physics](/source/Physics) at the [Mar Ivanios College](/source/Mar_Ivanios_College), [Thiruvananthapuram](/source/Thiruvananthapuram).[4] During that time, she was also acting part-time in several Malayalam television series, including *Umakkuyil*, *Megham* and *Akashadoothu*.[5] She considered acting in serials as "just time pass" and went on to add that she never intended to act in films, but rather wanted to be a lecturer.[4]

Priyanka married [Tamil film](/source/Tamil_film) director and actor Lawrence Ram on 23 May 2012 at [Attukal Temple](/source/Attukal_Temple) in [Thiruvananthapuram](/source/Thiruvananthapuram).[6] They have a son Mukund, born on 18 May 2013.[7] The couple filed for divorce in 2015.[8]

## Career

She made her [feature film](/source/Feature_film) debut in the [Vasanthabalan](/source/Vasanthabalan)-directed Tamil drama film *[Veyyil](/source/Veyil_(2006_film))* (2006) that was produced by director [Shankar](/source/S._Shankar),[9] in which she starred along with [Pasupathy](/source/Pasupathy). Her debut Malayalam film was *[Kichamani MBA](/source/Kichamani_MBA)* (2007) that featured her in a supporting role. The following year she starred in [T. V. Chandran](/source/T._V._Chandran)'s *[Vilapangalkkappuram](/source/Vilapangalkkappuram)* along with Suhasini and Biju Menon; her performance earned her the [Kerala State Film Award for Best Actress](/source/Kerala_State_Film_Award_for_Best_Actress).[10] [Rediff](/source/Rediff) named her the top Malayalam actress of 2009, citing that she "came up with a scintillating performance".[11] She rose to popularity after appearing opposite [Mohanlal](/source/Mohanlal) in *[Ividam Swargamanu](/source/Ividam_Swargamanu)*. Priyanka loves riding her Royal Enfield Bullet motorcycle.[12]
