# Prix Iris for Best Screenplay

Annual Canadian film award

The **Prix Iris for Best Screenplay** ([French](/source/French_language): *Prix Iris du meilleur scénario*) is an annual film award, presented by [Québec Cinéma](/source/Qu%C3%A9bec_Cin%C3%A9ma) as part of its [Prix Iris](/source/Prix_Iris) program, to honour the year's best [screenplay](/source/Screenplay) in the [Cinema of Quebec](/source/Cinema_of_Quebec).

Until 2016, it was known as the **Jutra Award for Best Screenplay** in memory of influential Quebec film director [Claude Jutra](/source/Claude_Jutra).[1] Following the withdrawal of Jutra's name from the award, the 2016 award was presented under the name Québec Cinéma.[1] The [Prix Iris](/source/Prix_Iris) name was announced in October 2016.[2]

[Bernard Émond](/source/Bernard_%C3%89mond), [Philippe Falardeau](/source/Philippe_Falardeau) and [Ken Scott](/source/Ken_Scott_(record_producer)) are the most nominated screenwriters with five nominations each. [Xavier Dolan](/source/Xavier_Dolan) became the first screenwriter to receive two nominations in the same year for *[Mommy](/source/Mommy_(2014_film))* and *[Tom at the Farm](/source/Tom_at_the_Farm) (Tom à la ferme)* in 2015, a feat repeated in 2023 by [Eric K. Boulianne](/source/Eric_K._Boulianne) for *[The Dishwasher](/source/The_Dishwasher_(film)) (Le plongeur)* and *[Viking](/source/Viking_(2022_film))*.
