==Life==
His exact dates of birth and death are not known. He was a son of [Kayqubad](/source/Shirvanshah_Keykubad_I), and brother of [Kavus I](/source/Shirvanshah_Kavus), and father of [Ibrahim I of Shirvan](/source/Ibrahim_I_of_Shirvan){{sfn|Minorsky|1958|p=139}} and [Bahlul of Shirvan](/source/Bahlul_of_Shirvan).

He was probably made governor of [Derbent](/source/Derbent) during the reign of his father [Kayqubad I](/source/Shirvanshah_Keykubad_I). According to a story by Aḥmad Ḡaffāri Qazvini, author of ''Tāriḵ-e jahānārā'' dedicated to [Tahmasp I](/source/Tahmasp_I), during the reign of his cousin [Hushang](/source/Shirvanshah_Hushang) (or his uncle Kavus), he was disgraced and forced to take refuge and hide in the [Shaki region](/source/Shaki_District) with his sons, dying there.[{{sfn|Minorsky|1958|p=139}}](/source/Ibrahim_I_of_Shirvan)
