'''Price Island''' is an [island](/source/island) on the coast of the [Canadian province](/source/Provinces_and_territories_of_Canada) of [British Columbia](/source/British_Columbia). It is located at the southeastern end of [Hecate Strait](/source/Hecate_Strait) and the northeastern end of [Queen Charlotte Sound](/source/Queen_Charlotte_Sound_(Canada)). The southernmost point of Price Island, called Day Point, is used to delineate the boundary between Hecate Strait and Queen Charlotte Sound.<ref>{{BCGNIS|27249|Queen Charlotte Sound}}</ref> [Milbanke Sound](/source/Milbanke_Sound) is just to the south of Price Island. Laredo Sound is just north.<ref name=bcgnis>{{BCGNIS|30972|Price Island}}</ref> [Swindle Island](/source/Swindle_Island) lies just north of Price Island. The main [Inside Passage](/source/Inside_Passage) route crosses Milbanke Sound and enters [Finlayson Channel](/source/Finlayson_Channel) just east of Price Island. Price Island is located within the [Kitimat-Stikine Regional District](/source/Regional_District_of_Kitimat-Stikine).

Price Island was named in 1866 by Captain [Daniel Pender](/source/Daniel_Pender) of the Royal Navy, after Captain John Adolphus Pope Price,<ref>For more on John Adolphus Pope Price see: {{Cite NBD1849 |wstitle=Price, John Adolphus Pope}}</ref> also of the Royal Navy.<ref name=bcgnis/>

Price Island is part of a volcanic centre called the [Milbanke Sound Group](/source/Milbanke_Sound_Group) which includes several [monogenetic](/source/monogenetic_volcanic_field) [cinder cone](/source/cinder_cone)s.
