# Pri Gan

**Pri Gan** (Hebrew: פְּרִי גַּן), also known as **Prigan**, is a [moshav](/source/Moshav) in southern [Israel](/source/Israel). Located in the [Hevel Shalom](/source/Hevel_Shalom) area of the north-western [Negev](/source/Negev) desert, it falls under the jurisdiction of [Eshkol Regional Council](/source/Eshkol_Regional_Council). In it had a population of .

## History

The moshav was founded in 1981 by former residents of [Pri'el](/source/Pri'el), an [Israeli settlement](/source/Israeli_settlement) in [Sinai](/source/Sinai_Peninsula) which was evacuated as part of the [Egyptian-Israeli Peace Treaty](/source/Egyptian-Israeli_Peace_Treaty). Its main produce is vegetables and flowers.

Pri Gan was targeted during [2023 Hamas-led attack on Israel](/source/2023_Hamas-led_attack_on_Israel). Eleven members of the security team from nearby [Shlomit](/source/Shlomit) came to defend the moshav, five of whom were killed during fighting.[1] However, no residents were killed.[2]
