Having started in 1989 with one hospital,<ref name=FlushHos.NYT1993/> and shortly thereafter another,<ref name=PrefHealthNet.DNews89/> they grew to ten.<ref name=PrefHealthNet.NYT94/> However, by 1996 they were down to four hospitals, and ready for being taken over by [New York Hospital](/source/New_York_Hospital); they had also added "more than 20 [primary care](/source/primary_care) facilities in Brooklyn and Queens."<ref name=PrefHealthNet.Crain96>{{cite news |newspaper=[Crain's New York Business](/source/Crain's_New_York_Business)
