**Prawet** ([Thai](/source/Thai_language): ประเวศ, pronounced [\[prā.wêːt\]](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:IPA/Thai)) is a *[khwaeng](/source/Khwaeng)* (subdistrict) of [Prawet District](/source/Prawet_District), in [Bangkok](/source/Bangkok), [Thailand](/source/Thailand). In 2020, it had a total population of 87,676 people.[2]

The word "Prawet" is the shortened of "[Prawet Burirom](/source/Prawet_Burirom_Canal)", a *[khlong](/source/Khlong)* (canal) dug through the area in the 19th century. The name mean "entrance to a blissful city".
