**Pran Roy** is a [Bangladeshi](/source/Bangladeshis) actor.[1] He primarily acts in [stage plays](/source/Play_(theatre)) and [television dramas](/source/Drama_(film_and_television)). In 2005, he entered the film industry by acting in the movies *Lal Shobuj* and *[Molla Barir Bou](/source/Molla_Barir_Bou)*.[2]

Notable plays in which he has acted include *Chorokabya* by Shimul Sarker, *Sat Saudagar* by Syed Aulad, *Komol Bibir Othithishala* by [Badrul Anam Saud](/source/Badrul_Anam_Saud), *Protishodh* by Moinul Hasan Khokon, *Ronger Duniya* by Hasan Jahangir, *Nongorkhana*, *Electioner Rong*, and *Jhulongto Babura*, among others.[3]

## Personal life and education

Pran Roy was born in [Bagerhat](/source/Bagerhat_District), Bangladesh. His father is Jogesh Chandra Roy.[4]

He was a student at the [Institute of Fine Arts, University of Dhaka](/source/Faculty_of_Fine_Arts,_University_of_Dhaka). He married his classmate, playwright and director [Shahnewaz Kakoli](/source/Shahnewaz_Kakoli), on 9 December 2001.[1][5]
