***Powerful Stuff*** is a 1989 studio album by Texas based [blues rock](/source/Blues_rock) band [the Fabulous Thunderbirds](/source/The_Fabulous_Thunderbirds). It was recorded in [Memphis](/source/Memphis%2C_Tennessee) and produced by [Terry Manning](/source/Terry_Manning). It was the last studio album to feature [Jimmie Vaughan](/source/Jimmie_Vaughan) before leaving for a solo career. The track "Powerful Stuff" achieved mainstream success[*[citation needed](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Citation_needed)*] and was featured in [Touchstone Pictures](/source/Touchstone_Pictures)' 1988 hit film *[Cocktail](/source/Cocktail_(1988_film))*. It was the first single released from the *Cocktail* soundtrack album, which reached number one on the Billboard Charts and sold over 19 million copies worldwide.
