The '''Portland Pride''' were an American [indoor soccer](/source/indoor_soccer) team based in [Portland, Oregon](/source/Portland%2C_Oregon), that played in the [Continental Indoor Soccer League](/source/Continental_Indoor_Soccer_League) (CISL) from 1993 to 1997.

==History==
In 1993, a new league, the [Continental Indoor Soccer League](/source/Continental_Indoor_Soccer_League) (CISL) began its first season. Traditionally, indoor soccer has been a winter sport, but the CISL decided to play a summer season.  This would keep it from competing with the more established [National Professional Soccer League](/source/National_Professional_Soccer_League_II).

Portland was announced as a founding member city for CISL on February 3, 1993.<ref>{{cite news |last=Nolen |first=John |date=February 4, 1993 |title=New league puts 'Soccer City' back on sports map |page=C2 |work=The Oregonian}}</ref> Owned by Brian Parrott, the team was named the "Pride" and played its home games in [Portland, Oregon](/source/Portland%2C_Oregon)'s [Memorial Coliseum](/source/Memorial_Coliseum_(Portland)).<ref>{{cite news |last=Nolen |first=John |date=April 28, 1993 |title=Portland club gets ready for indoor soccer draft |page=E7 |work=The Oregonian}}</ref> In 1995, Parrott sold the team to a group led by Norm Daniels.

In 1997, the team and the league played its last season.
