The **Porcupine Hills**[1] refer to various groups of hills and uplands located in the [prairie provinces](/source/Prairie_provinces) of Canada, specifically the [provinces](/source/Provinces_and_territories_of_Canada) of [Saskatchewan](/source/Saskatchewan) and [Manitoba](/source/Manitoba). They are part of the [Manitoba Escarpment](/source/Manitoba_Escarpment), which was the shoreline of the ancient glacial [Lake Agassiz](/source/Lake_Agassiz). The hills are located north-west of [Swan River, Manitoba](/source/Swan_River%2C_Manitoba), and are the headwaters of the [Swan River](/source/Swan_River_(Manitoba%E2%80%93Saskatchewan)).[2] The highest elevation in the Porcupine Hills is [Hart Mountain](/source/Hart_Mountain_(Manitoba)), at an elevation of 823 metres (2,700 ft), which makes it Manitoba's second-highest point.[2] The [Porcupine Provincial Forest](/source/Porcupine_Provincial_Forest_(Manitoba)) surrounds the area.
