{{Distinguish|Italy Is Popular}}
'''Popular Italy''' ({{langx|it|Italia Popolare}}, IP), whose complete name is '''Popular Italy – Movement for Europe''' (''Italia Popolare – Movimento per l'Europa'', IP–MpE), is a [Christian-democratic](/source/Christian_democracy) faction within the [Democratic Party](/source/Democratic_Party_(Italy)). Its leading members were [Lino Duilio](/source/Lino_Duilio), [Gerardo Bianco](/source/Gerardo_Bianco) and [Alberto Monticone](/source/Alberto_Monticone), all three MPs elected for [Democracy is Freedom – The Daisy](/source/Democracy_is_Freedom_%E2%80%93_The_Daisy). They were the most sceptical group of that party about the merger with [Democrats of the Left](/source/Democrats_of_the_Left) to form the Democratic Party, and they were cold supporters of it. Although being members of the [Italian People's Party](/source/Italian_People's_Party_(1994)) when this party decided to join [The Olive Tree](/source/The_Olive_Tree_(Italy)) (Bianco was then party secretary), they were very proud of their Christian-democratic identity and never left the [European People's Party](/source/European_People's_Party).

Prior to the [2008 general election](/source/2008_Italian_general_election), the group joined the [White Rose](/source/The_Rose_for_Italy) of [Bruno Tabacci](/source/Bruno_Tabacci).<ref>{{Cite web|url=http://www.irpinianews.it/Politica/news/?news=27884|title=Sboccia la Rosa Bianca con Tabacci, Pezzotta, Capaldo e Baccini » IRPINIANEWS.IT<!-- Bot generated title -->}}</ref> Gerardo Bianco and Alberto Monticone were appointed Vice Presidents of the new party by President [Savino Pezzotta](/source/Savino_Pezzotta) and Secretary [Mario Baccini](/source/Mario_Baccini).<ref>[http://www.agoramagazine.it/agora/spip.php?breve122 Errore 404 - Agorà magazine<!-- Bot generated title -->]</ref> Only Lino Duilio remained member of the Democratic Party. Soon after Popular Italy left even the White Rose over disagreements on the composition of the electoral lists of the [Union of the Centre](/source/Union_of_the_Centre_(2002)) (the alliance between the [Union of Christian and Centre Democrats](/source/Union_of_the_Centre_(2002)) and the White Rose)<ref>[http://blog.panorama.it/italia/2008/03/11/le-sfumature-del-bianco-addio-votero-scheda-bianca-la-rosa-e-sfiorita/ Le sfumature del Bianco: Addio, voterò scheda bianca. In 2017 Popular Italy joined the [Popular Civic List](/source/Popular_Civic_List) (CP), a centrist electoral list within the [centre-left coalition](/source/Centre-left_coalition_(Italy)) for the [2018 general election](/source/2018_Italian_general_election), along with [Popular Alternative](/source/Popular_Alternative) (AP), [Italy of Values](/source/Italy_of_Values) (IdV), the [Centrists for Europe](/source/Centrists_for_Europe) (CpE), [Solidary Democracy](/source/Solidary_Democracy) (DemoS), the [Union for Trentino](/source/Union_for_Trentino) (UpT), [Italy Is Popular](/source/Italy_Is_Popular) (IP) and minor parties/groups.<ref>{{Cite tweet |user=ItaliaPopolare |number=950397496529948672 |title=#ItaliaPopolare/Intesa #civicapopolare rilancia il comunicato di attenzione verso una lista che dia #dignita al #popolarismo ai #cattolicidemocratici coerenti con la sottoscrizione della #Lombardia @BeaLorenzin @GiuseppeDeMita1 @lorenzodellai @Pierferdinando @AndreaOlivero}}</ref> CP obtained a mere 0.5% and no seats, except those of a few candidates who won in single-seat constituencies.
