**Pomaia** is a village in [Tuscany](/source/Tuscany), central [Italy](/source/Italy), administratively a *[frazione](/source/Frazione)* of the *[comune](/source/Comune)* of [Santa Luce](/source/Santa_Luce), in the [Province of Pisa](/source/Province_of_Pisa). At the time of the 2001 census its population amounted to 188.[1]

The village is known for the [Lama Tzong Khapa Institute](/source/Istituto_Lama_Tzong_Khapa), one of the biggest Tibetan [monasteries](/source/Monastery) in Italy.[2]

Pomaia has an economy based on [agriculture](/source/Agriculture) and [tourism](/source/Tourism).

## Main sights
