## History

Its name after a fort was called "Pom Prap Sattru Phai", southward of [Nang Leong](/source/Talat_Nang_Loeng) Ban Yuan (near Nopphawong Bridge in present day). It was one of the eight [forts](/source/Fortifications_of_Bangkok#1852_forts) built along two banks of [Khlong Phadung Krung Kasem](/source/Khlong_Phadung_Krung_Kasem) according to the [King Mongkut](/source/King_Mongkut) (Rama IV)'s orders.
