**Pollera nera** is a red [Italian wine](/source/Italian_wine) [grape variety](/source/Grape_variety) that is grown primarily in the [Liguria wine](/source/Liguria_wine) region and northwest [Tuscany](/source/Tuscany_(wine)). [Ampelographers](/source/Ampelographers) believe that the vine has a very long [winemaking](/source/Winemaking) history but it is rarely seen today.[1] It is believed to have been descended from the [Chianti](/source/Chianti) wine grape [Mammolo](/source/Mammolo) and the [Corsican wine](/source/Corsican_wine) grape [Sciacarello](/source/Sciacarello)[2] which would make it a half-sibling of [Colombana nera](/source/Colombana_nera).[3]

Grapes destined for the DOC wine must [harvested](/source/Harvested_(wine)) to a [yield](/source/Yield_(wine)) no greater than 12 [tonnes](/source/Tonnes)/[hectare](/source/Hectare) with the finished wine needing to attain a minimum [alcohol level](/source/Alcohol_level) of at least 11.5%.
