**Polina Buhrova** ([Ukrainian](/source/Ukrainian_language): Поліна Бугрова; born 30 January 2004) is a [badminton](/source/Badminton) player from Ukraine and the 2021 and 2023 National Champion of Ukraine (both singles and women's doubles).

## Career

First major senior tournament for Buhrova was the [2021 European Badminton Championships](/source/2021_European_Badminton_Championships) in Kyiv. Together with [Mariia Stoliarenko](/source/Mariia_Stoliarenko), she received a wild card for women's doubles. They won against Irish [Kate Frost](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Kate_Frost&action=edit&redlink=1) and [Moya Ryan](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Moya_Ryan&action=edit&redlink=1) but lost to Danish [Alexandra Bøje](/source/Alexandra_B%C3%B8je) and [Mette Poulsen](/source/Mette_Poulsen) in the second round.

Buhrova has won several medals at the European junior championships, including bronze in girls' doubles in 2020. Though she was seeded 4th for the [2022 World Junior Championships](/source/2022_BWF_World_Junior_Championships_%E2%80%93_Girls'_singles) in the singles' tournament, she lost in the third round. The same happened during the [2022 European Junior Championships](/source/2022_European_Junior_Badminton_Championships_%E2%80%93_Girls'_singles) when she lost both in singles and doubles in the third round despite being top seeded.

Buhrova competed in the [2023 European Games](/source/Badminton_at_the_2023_European_Games_%E2%80%93_Women's_singles). In Tarnów, she finished second in her group (after losing to Danish [Line Kjærsfeldt](/source/Line_Kj%C3%A6rsfeldt) and winning against [Hristomira Popovska](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Hristomira_Popovska&action=edit&redlink=1) from Bulgaria), but lost to [Neslihan Yiğit](/source/Neslihan_Yi%C4%9Fit) from Turkey in the round of 16. At the [2023 BWF World Championships](/source/2023_BWF_World_Championships) in Copenhagen, Buhrova lost to [Putri Kusuma Wardani](/source/Putri_Kusuma_Wardani) from Indonesia in the [first round](/source/2023_BWF_World_Championships_%E2%80%93_Women's_singles#Section_2). She also competed for Ukraine at the [2023 European Mixed Team Badminton Championships](/source/2023_European_Mixed_Team_Badminton_Championships) where she played just one game which she won (against English [Abigail Holden](/source/Abigail_Holden)).

Through Olympic ratings, Buhrova qualified for the [2024 Summer Olympics](/source/Badminton_at_the_2024_Summer_Olympics).[1][2]
