**Podwiesk** /podwjesk/ is a village in the administrative district of [Gmina Chełmno](/source/Gmina_Che%C5%82mno), within [Chełmno County](/source/Che%C5%82mno_County), [Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship](/source/Kuyavian-Pomeranian_Voivodeship), in north-central Poland. It is located in [Chełmno Land](/source/Che%C5%82mno_Land) within the historic region of [Pomerania](/source/Pomerania).

## History

During the [German occupation of Poland](/source/Occupation_of_Poland_(1939%E2%80%931945)) ([World War II](/source/World_War_II)), Podwiesk was one of the sites of executions of [Poles](/source/Polish_people), carried out by the Germans in 1939 as part of the *[Intelligenzaktion](/source/Intelligenzaktion)*.[1]
