Family of small freshwater animals

**Podonidae** is a family of onychopods in the order [Diplostraca](/source/Diplostraca). There are about 8 genera and at least 20 described species in Podonidae.[1][2][3][4] A lot of them are [non-native species](/source/Non-native_species)[*[where?](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Naming_conventions_(geographic_names))*], many of which pose a great threat to aquatic ecosystems.[5]
