'''''Poa triodioides''''', [synonyms](/source/Synonym_(taxonomy)) including '''''Austrofestuca littoralis''''', is a [species](/source/species) of [flowering plant](/source/flowering_plant) in the grass family [Poaceae](/source/Poaceae), [native](/source/Native_species) to southwestern and southeastern Australia and to New Zealand.<ref name=POWO_418259-1/>

==Taxonomy==
The species was first described by [Jacques Labillardière](/source/Jacques_Labillardi%C3%A8re) in 1805 as ''Festuca littoralis''. It was subsequently placed in several other genera. It was first transferred to ''[Poa](/source/Poa)'' in 1864 by [Joseph Dalton Hooker](/source/Joseph_Dalton_Hooker), but under the [illegitimate name](/source/Nomen_illegitimum) ''Poa littoralis'',<ref name=POWO_418259-1/> which had already been used for a different species.<ref name=IPNI_325394-2/> It was transferred to ''Arundo'' in 1836 by [Carl Bernhard von Trinius](/source/Carl_Bernhard_von_Trinius) as ''Arundo triodioides''.<ref name=POWO_418259-1/><ref name=Trin36/> (''Arundo littoralis'' had already been used.<ref name=POWO_390891-1>{{Cite POWO|title=''Arundo littoralis'' P.Beauv..|id=390891-1|access-date=2024-11-27|mode=cs1}}</ref>) ''A. triodioides'' was then the basis for the legitimate name in ''Poa'', ''Poa triodioides'', published by Zotov in 1943.<ref name=IPNI_418259-1/><ref name=POWO_418259-1/> In 1976, [Evgenii Alexeev](/source/Evgenii_Alexeev) placed it in his new genus ''Austrofestuca'', which he had elevated from a section of ''Festuca'', as ''Austrofestuca littoralis''.<ref name=IPNI_17558-1/><ref name=IPNI_391266-1/> ''A. littoralis'' was at one time the only species in the genus. ''Austrofestuca'' has since been treated as a synonym of ''Poa''.<ref name=POWO_17558-1/>
