## Boundaries

The constituency encompasses [Nazirpur](/source/Nazirpur_Upazila), [Pirojpur Sadar](/source/Pirojpur_Sadar_Upazila), and [Nesarabad](/source/Nesarabad_(Swarupkati)_Upazila) upazilas.[1][2]

## History

The constituency was created in 1984 from the Bakerganj-14 constituency when the former [Bakerganj District](/source/Backergunge_District) was split into four districts: [Bhola](/source/Bhola_District), [Bakerganj](/source/Barisal_District), [Jhalokati](/source/Jhalokati_District), and [Pirojpur](/source/Pirojpur_District).

Ahead of the [2008 general election](/source/2008_Bangladeshi_general_election), the [Election Commission](/source/Bangladesh_Election_Commission) redrew constituency boundaries to reflect population changes revealed by the [2001 Bangladesh census](/source/2001_Bangladesh_census).[3] The 2008 redistricting altered the boundaries of the constituency.[4]

Ahead of the [2014 general election](/source/2014_Bangladeshi_general_election), the Election Commission swapped Zianagar Upazila from Pirojpur-1 to Pirojpur-2, and Nesarabad Upazila from Pirojpur-2 to Pirojpur-1.[2][5]
