A '''pile lighthouse''' is a type of [lighthouse](/source/lighthouse) found in [Australia](/source/Australia), the [United Kingdom](/source/United_Kingdom) and [United States](/source/United_States). In the United States they are found primarily in [Florida](/source/Florida), including on open [reefs](/source/coral_reef) adjacent to the [Florida Keys](/source/Florida_Keys).

The pile lighthouses on the reefs in Florida are tall [skeletal tower](/source/skeletal_tower)s, with living and working quarters set high above the reach of storm waves.  Some of the lights were converted [screw-pile lighthouse](/source/screw-pile_lighthouse)s, while others were built on piles driven directly into the sea bed.
