**Pierse Power** (1827 – 1889) was an [Irish](/source/Irish_people) [Roman Catholic](/source/Roman_Catholic) clergyman who served as the [Bishop of Waterford and Lismore](/source/Bishop_of_Waterford_and_Lismore) from 1887 until his death.[1]

## Life

Power was educated at [St John's College, Waterford](/source/St_John's_College%2C_Waterford) and [St Patrick's College, Maynooth](/source/St_Patrick's_College%2C_Maynooth).[2] After a curacy at [Clonmel](/source/Clonmel), he was on the staff of St John's from 1858 until 1879.[2] Power was [parish priest](/source/Parish_priest) at [Dungarvan](/source/Dungarvan) from 1879 until 1886 when he was ordained [Coadjutor bishop](/source/Coadjutor_bishop) of [Waterford and Lismore](/source/Bishop_of_Waterford_and_Lismore) with the right of succession. He became bishop on 17 December 1887[3] and served until his death on 22 May 1889.[2]
