# Pierre Devaux

**Pierre Antoine A. Devaux** (24 November 1897 – 11 January 1984) was a Belgian [long-distance runner](/source/Long-distance_running).[1] He competed in the [men's 10,000 metres](/source/Athletics_at_the_1920_Summer_Olympics_%E2%80%93_Men's_10,000_metres) at the [1920 Summer Olympics](/source/1920_Summer_Olympics).[2]

## Career

Devaux represented Union Athlétique de Bruxelles in competition. He won the 1919 [Belgian Athletics Championships](/source/Belgian_Athletics_Championships) and was a [Belgian national record-holder](/source/List_of_Belgian_records_in_athletics) in long-distance running.[3] Also that year, he set a 10,000 metres [personal best](/source/Personal_record) of 34:19.2 minutes.[3]

At the 1919 [Rotterdam](/source/Rotterdam) athletics meeting, Devaux won the [5000 metres](/source/5000_metres) in a time of 16:411⁄2 minutes.[4]

Devaux qualified to represent Belgium in the [10,000 metres at the 1920 Olympics](/source/Athletics_at_the_1920_Summer_Olympics_%E2%80%93_Men's_10,000_metres). He ran 36:38.3 to place 8th in his semi-final and did not advance to the finals.[5]
