'''Pierre Bureau''' (October 9, 1771 – June 6, 1836) was a businessman and political figure in [Lower Canada](/source/Lower_Canada).

He was born in [L’Ancienne-Lorette](/source/L'Ancienne-Lorette%2C_Quebec), [Quebec](/source/Province_of_Quebec_(1763-1791)) in 1771. Bureau operated an inn for travellers at [Sainte-Anne-de-la-Pérade](/source/Sainte-Anne-de-la-P%C3%A9rade%2C_Quebec) and a ferry service across the [Sainte-Anne River](/source/Sainte-Anne_River). Around 1811, he moved to [Trois-Rivières](/source/Trois-Rivi%C3%A8res%2C_Quebec), where he became a merchant. He was elected to the [Legislative Assembly of Lower Canada](/source/Legislative_Assembly_of_Lower_Canada) for [Saint-Maurice](/source/Saint-Maurice_(Lower_Canada)) in an 1819 by-election and represented that region until his death at Trois-Rivières in 1836. He supported an elected [Legisliative Council](/source/Legislative_Council_of_Lower_Canada) and tended to support the [Parti canadien](/source/Parti_canadien). His grandsons, [Antoine-Aimé Dorion](/source/Antoine-Aim%C3%A9_Dorion) and [Jean-Baptiste-Éric Dorion](/source/Jean-Baptiste-%C3%89ric_Dorion), both became members of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Canada. Antoine-Aimé was also a lawyer, judge and Canadian cabinet minister; Jean-Baptiste-Éric was a journalist.
