# Piaggio P.150

The **Piaggio P.150** was a 1950s [Italian](/source/Italy) two-seat [trainer](/source/Trainer_(aircraft)) designed and built by [Piaggio](/source/Piaggio_Aero) to meet an [Italian Air Force](/source/Italian_Air_Force) requirement to replace the [North American T-6](/source/T-6_Texan).

## Development

The P.150 was designed and built to compete as an Italian Air Force T-6 replacement against the [Fiat G.49](/source/Fiat_G.49) and [Macchi MB.323](/source/Macchi_MB.323). The P.150 was an all-metal low-wing [cantilever](/source/Cantilever#Aircraft) [monoplane](/source/Monoplane) with a wide-track retractable [tailwheel landing gear](/source/Conventional_landing_gear). The pilot and instructor were seated in tandem under one glazed [canopy](/source/Aircraft_canopy). It was originally powered by a [Pratt & Whitney Wasp](/source/Pratt_%26_Whitney_Wasp) [radial engine](/source/Radial_engine) and later an [Alvis Leonides](/source/Alvis_Leonides) engine. The aircraft was not chosen and did not go into production.
