# Phlyctaina

***Phlyctaina*** is a [monotypic](/source/Monotypic) [litter moth](/source/Herminiinae) genus of the family [Erebidae](/source/Erebidae).[1][2] Its only species, ***Phlyctaina irrigualis***, is found in North America.[3][4][5] Both the genus and species were [first described](/source/Species_description) by [Heinrich Benno Möschler](/source/Heinrich_Benno_M%C3%B6schler) in 1890.[6][7]

The MONA or [Hodges number](/source/Hodges_number) for *Phlyctaina irrigualis* is [8392](/source/List_of_moths_of_North_America_(MONA_8322%E2%80%9311233)).[8]
