# Philippe Lavalette

Canadian cinematographer

**Philippe Lavalette** is a Canadian cinematographer, writer and documentary filmmaker from [Quebec](/source/Quebec).[1] He is most noted for his work on the 2012 film *[Inch'Allah](/source/Inch'Allah_(2012_film))*, for which he was a [Canadian Screen Award](/source/Canadian_Screen_Award) nominee for [Best Cinematography](/source/Canadian_Screen_Award_for_Best_Cinematography) at the [1st Canadian Screen Awards](/source/1st_Canadian_Screen_Awards) in 2013.[2]

His other film credits have included *[Twilight](/source/Twilight_(2007_film)) (La Brunante)*, *[Victoria](/source/Victoria_(2008_film))*, *[The Wolves](/source/The_Wolves_(2014_film)) (Les Loups)*, *[A Cargo to Africa](/source/A_Cargo_to_Africa)*, *[Shadow Men](/source/Shadow_Men_(2017_film)) (Nos hommes dans l'ouest)* and *[After the Odyssey](/source/After_the_Odyssey) (Au lendemain de l'odyssée)*.

In 2017 he published his debut novel, *Petite Madeleine*.[3] He has also published *La mesure du monde*, a memoir of his career in film.

He is the husband of filmmaker [Manon Barbeau](/source/Manon_Barbeau), and the father of filmmaker and writer [Anaïs Barbeau-Lavalette](/source/Ana%C3%AFs_Barbeau-Lavalette).[4]
