'''Philiphaugh''' is a village by the [Yarrow Water](/source/Yarrow_Water), on the outskirts of [Selkirk](/source/Selkirk%2C_Scottish_Borders), in the [Scottish Borders](/source/Scottish_Borders).

Places nearby include [Bowhill](/source/Bowhill%2C_Scottish_Borders), [Broadmeadows](/source/Broadmeadows), the [Ettrick Water](/source/Ettrick_Water), [Ettrickbridge](/source/Ettrickbridge), [Lindean](/source/Lindean), [Salenside](/source/Salenside), [Yarrowford](/source/Yarrowford) and the [Yair](/source/Yair%2C_Scottish_Borders) Forest.

Originally referred to as the land owned as part of ''Philiphaugh Estate'', the name is today more commonly used to describe the most southern parts of Selkirk. [Philiphaugh rugby ground](/source/Philiphaugh_(stadium)) is the home of [Selkirk Rugby Club](/source/Selkirk_RFC). Selkirk Cricket Club is the site of the [Battle of Philiphaugh](/source/Battle_of_Philiphaugh), fought on 13 September 1645 at the height of the [Wars of the Three Kingdoms](/source/Scotland_in_the_Wars_of_the_Three_Kingdoms).

The grave of [Tibbie Tamson](/source/Tibbie_Tamson) (died 1790), a suicide from Selkirk buried in unconsecrated ground, is located at an isolated spot near Harehead Hill at the boundary between the Philiphaugh and Bowhill estates.<ref name=canmore>{{Cite web|url=https://canmore.org.uk/event/713939|title=Archaeology Notes | Canmore}}</ref> The grave is maintained by way of an apology.
