DeWilde was born in [Toronto](/source/Toronto), [Ontario](/source/Ontario), Canada on July 10, 1972.

## Career

He was most noted for his role in the film *[Turning Paige](/source/Turning_Paige)*,[1] for which he garnered a [Genie Award](/source/Genie_Award) nomination for [Best Actor](/source/Canadian_Screen_Award_for_Best_Actor) at the [23rd Genie Awards](/source/23rd_Genie_Awards).[2] His other credits included supporting and guest roles in the television series *[Mythic Warriors](/source/Mythic_Warriors)*, *[RoboCop: Prime Directives](/source/RoboCop%3A_Prime_Directives)* and *[Mutant X](/source/Mutant_X_(TV_series))*, and the films *[Prince Charming](/source/Prince_Charming_(2001_film))*, *[Don't Say a Word](/source/Don't_Say_a_Word)* and *[Dawn of the Dead](/source/Dawn_of_the_Dead_(2004_film))*.

## Personal life

On summer vacation, DeWilde spent the weekend on a vacation to [St. Petersburg, Florida](/source/St._Petersburg%2C_Florida). However, he contracted a serious ailment and was taken to the hospital. DeWilde died on July 9, 2014, in [St. Petersburg](/source/St._Petersburg%2C_Florida), [Florida](/source/Florida), one day before his 42nd birthday.[3]
