# Phil Trinter

American sailor (born 1969)

**Phil Trinter** (born January 8, 1969, in [Lorain, Ohio](/source/Lorain%2C_Ohio)) is an American Olympic sailor in the [Star class](/source/Star_(sailboat)). He competed in the [2004 Summer Olympics](/source/2004_Summer_Olympics) together with [Paul Cayard](/source/Paul_Cayard), where they finished 5th.[1] Trinter has also become [Star World Champion](/source/Star_World_Championships) two times, in 1993 and 2013.

Trinter sailed with [Stars & Stripes](/source/Stars_%26_Stripes_(America's_Cup_syndicate)) at the [1995 America's Cup](/source/1995_America's_Cup) and with AmericaOne in the [2000 Louis Vuitton Cup](/source/2000_Louis_Vuitton_Cup).[2]

He attended [Indiana University](/source/Indiana_University), where he played football, including the [1990 Peach Bowl](/source/1990_Peach_Bowl) and three other bowl games.
