'''John Phillip le Grande Jacob''' (19 May 1877 – 3 November 1909) was a New Zealand international [rugby union](/source/rugby_union) player.

Jacob was born in [Marton](/source/Marton%2C_New_Zealand) and educated at [Wanganui Collegiate](/source/Wanganui_Collegiate), where he was a first XV player for three seasons.<ref name="NZRugby">{{cite web |title=#85: Phil Jacob |url=https://stats.allblacks.com/all-players/profile/Phil-Jacob-AB-85 |website=NZ Rugby Stats}}</ref>

An attacking wing three-quarter, Jacob was a regular try scorer for his provinces, which numbered four as he had a well travelled career. He was [New Zealand](/source/All_Blacks) representative for two uncapped matches in 1901, debuting against Wellington. His other appearance came against [New South Wales](/source/New_South_Wales_Waratahs) at Athletic Park, and he contributed two tries in a 20–3 win.<ref name="NZRugby"/><ref>{{cite news |title=Football |url=https://paperspast.natlib.govt.nz/newspapers/HNS19010424.2.35 |work=[Hawera and Normanby Star](/source/Hawera_and_Normanby_Star) |date=24 April 1901}}</ref>
