***Phantom Life*** ([French](/source/French_language): *La Vie fantôme*) is a Canadian drama film, directed by [Jacques Leduc](/source/Jacques_Leduc) and released in 1992.[1] An adaptation of the novel by [Danièle Sallenave](/source/Dani%C3%A8le_Sallenave), the film stars [Ron Lea](/source/Ron_Lea) as Pierre, an academic at the [Université de Sherbrooke](/source/Universit%C3%A9_de_Sherbrooke) who is torn between his marriage to Annie ([Johanne-Marie Tremblay](/source/Johanne-Marie_Tremblay)) and his extramarital affair with the younger Laure ([Pascale Bussières](/source/Pascale_Bussi%C3%A8res)).[2]

The film's cast also includes [Gabriel Gascon](/source/Gabriel_Gascon), [Rita Lafontaine](/source/Rita_Lafontaine), [Jean-Guy Bouchard](/source/Jean-Guy_Bouchard) and [Élise Guilbault](/source/%C3%89lise_Guilbault).

The film premiered at the 1992 [Montreal World Film Festival](/source/Montreal_World_Film_Festival),[3] where it was named the most popular Canadian film of the festival. Bussières also won the award for Best Actress.[4]
