# Pfrogner Point

**Pfrogner Point** is an ice-covered point on the northwest extension of [Fletcher Peninsula](/source/Fletcher_Peninsula) in [Antarctica](/source/Antarctica); it is partially encompassed by the [Abbot Ice Shelf](/source/Abbot_Ice_Shelf). The point marks the division of [Eights Coast](/source/Eights_Coast) and [Bryan Coast](/source/Bryan_Coast). Mapped by the [United States Geological Survey](/source/United_States_Geological_Survey) from surveys and [U.S. Navy](/source/U.S._Navy) air photos, 1961–66. It was named by the [Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names](/source/Advisory_Committee_on_Antarctic_Names) for [Ray L. Pfrogner](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Ray_L._Pfrogner&action=edit&redlink=1), [United States Antarctic Program](/source/United_States_Antarctic_Program) geomagnetist-seismologist at [Byrd Station](/source/Byrd_Station), 1961–62.
