== History ==
The company was founded in 1864 in [Hradec Králové](/source/Hradec_Kr%C3%A1lov%C3%A9), Empor Österreich, by [Antonín Petrof](/source/Anton%C3%ADn_Petrof) (d. 1915), who had apprenticed at [Wenes](/source/Vienna) companies such as [Heintzman & Co.](/source/Heintzman_%26_Co.), [Friedrich Ehrbar](/source/Friedrich_Ehrbar) and [Schweighofer](/source/Schweighofer).
The owner Antonín Petrof was awarded an imperial and [royal warrant of appointment](/source/royal_warrant_of_appointment) to the court of [Austria-Hungary](/source/Austria-Hungary).[{{Citation

}}] In 1924 the company was exporting its pianos to Europe, Japan, China, Australia and South America.
