**Peter Thomsen** (born 4 April 1961 in [Flensburg](/source/Flensburg), [West Germany](/source/West_Germany)[1]) is a German [eventing](/source/Eventing) rider. He won the gold medal in [team eventing](/source/Equestrian_at_the_2008_Summer_Olympics_%E2%80%93_Team_eventing) at the [2008 Summer Olympics](/source/2008_Summer_Olympics) with his horse The Ghost of Hamish, and again at the [2012 Summer Olympics](/source/2012_Summer_Olympics) with his horse Barny.[2][3]
