'''Peter Kidner Stagg''' (born 22 November 1941)<ref>{{cite book |last=Griffiths|first=John |title=The Phoenix Book of International Rugby Records |year=1987 |publisher=J. M. Dent & Sons Ltd |location=London |isbn=0-460-07003-7 |pages=12:18}}</ref> is a [Scottish](/source/Scottish_people) former international [rugby union](/source/rugby_union) player and the son of [James Stagg](/source/James_Stagg), the senior meteorologist adviser for [Operation Overlord](/source/Operation_Overlord), the [D-Day](/source/D-Day) landings in Normandy.
Peter Stagg was capped twenty-eight times as a [lock](/source/Rugby_union_positions) for Scotland between 1965 and 1970, including one cap as a replacement.<ref>Griffiths, page 2:38-2:41</ref>

Stagg was selected for the [1968 British Lions tour to South Africa](/source/1968_British_Lions_tour_to_South_Africa) and played in three of the four internationals against {{Nrut|South Africa}}.

He played club rugby for [Sale](/source/Sale_Sharks) and was also invited to play with the [Anti-Assassins](/source/Anti-Assassins) rugby team, a side based in [Cumbria](/source/Cumbria) in the north of England that played charity and friendly matches at home and abroad.

In 1975 he was living in [Zambia](/source/Zambia) and playing rugby for the Ndola Wanderers RFC when the East African touring side the [Tuskers](/source/East_Africa_rugby_union_team) visited. He played for [Zambia](/source/Zambia_national_rugby_union_team) in their first ever international on 31 August 1975 at [Kitwe](/source/Kitwe).

Although billed as {{convert|6|ft|7.5|in|m|abbr=on}} tall, there was a suggestion that Stagg was nearly {{convert|6|in|cm|spell=in}} taller than his usual partner in the Scotland second row, [Mike Campbell-Lamerton](/source/Mike_Campbell-Lamerton), who was himself about {{convert|6|ft|4.5|in|m|abbr=on}}.
