**Peter Anthony Rodger** (born 6 April 1965) is a British filmmaker, photographer, and [commercial director](/source/Commercial_director). Rodger is known for his 2009 documentary film *[Oh My God](/source/Oh_My_God_(2009_film))*, as well as for his work as a [second unit director](/source/Second_unit#Directors) on *[The Hunger Games](/source/The_Hunger_Games_(film))* (2012). He is the recipient of accolades from the Houston International Film Festival, [Chicago International Film Festival](/source/Chicago_International_Film_Festival), Telly Awards, the Mobius Awards, and US International Film and Video Festival.[2]

## Personal life

Rodger was born on April 6, 1965,[*[citation needed](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Citation_needed)*] as the second son of British [photojournalist](/source/Photojournalism) [George Rodger](/source/George_Rodger) and his American assistant wife, Lois "Jinx" Rodger (née Witherspoon).[3]

Rodger married Ong Li Chin Tye, a [Malaysian Chinese](/source/Malaysian_Chinese) nurse who worked on film sets and later a research assistant for a film company. They had two children, [Elliot](/source/Elliot_Rodger) (1991–2014) and Georgia (b. 1995).[4]

In c. 1996, Rodger moved together with his family from the United Kingdom to California.[4] In 1998, he divorced his wife, Li Chin Tye.[4] In 1999, after his divorce, Rodger married Moroccan actress [Soumaya Akaaboune](/source/Soumaya_Akaaboune),[4] with whom he had his third child and second son, Jazz.[5]

On May 23, 2014, his elder son, Elliot, [murdered six people and injured fourteen others](/source/2014_Isla_Vista_killings) in [Isla Vista, California](/source/Isla_Vista%2C_California), then killed himself.[6] Afterwards, Peter gave several interviews to shed light on the incident and Elliot's upbringing.[7]
