In his fifth match he took 9 for 93 in the first innings against [Northern Districts](/source/Northern_Districts_men's_cricket_team),[[https://cricketarchive.com/Archive/Scorecards/35/35816.html Otago v Northern Districts 1975-76]] and he finished the 1975–76 season with 42 wickets at 20.13.
