==Youth==
Lak grew up in [Huntington Beach, California](/source/Huntington_Beach%2C_California), graduating from [Ocean View High School](/source/Ocean_View_High_School) in 1991. In 1995, Lak played for the [Los Angeles Salsa U-23](/source/Los_Angeles_Salsa_U-23) in the [USISL Pro League](/source/USISL_Pro_League).  On July 25, 1996, midway through the [1996 A-League](/source/1996_A-League) season, he joined the [Colorado Foxes](/source/Colorado_Foxes) of the [A-League](/source/A-League_(1995%E2%80%932004)).<ref>[https://groups.google.com/forum/?fromgroups#!topic/rec.sport.soccer/ISx9Uc2OYtA A-League Press Release]</ref>  In 1997, he signed with the [Orange County Zodiac](/source/Orange_County_Zodiac) which served as the farm team for the [Los Angeles Galaxy](/source/Los_Angeles_Galaxy).  On July 3, 1997, the Galaxy called Lak up from the Zodiac.
