**Peter Franzen** is a retired English [journalist](/source/Journalist), who was the [editor](/source/Editing) of the [Norwich](/source/Norwich)-based regional newspaper the *[Eastern Daily Press](/source/Eastern_Daily_Press)*, a position he occupied from 1993 until his retirement in 2009.[1] He previously held roles including executive editor of that title and editor of the *[Great Yarmouth Mercury](/source/Great_Yarmouth_Mercury)*, having joined their publisher [Archant](/source/Archant) in 1971.

He was awarded the [Order of the British Empire](/source/Order_of_the_British_Empire) in the 2004/2005 [New Year Honours](/source/New_Year_Honours) list.[2]
