# Peter Croker

**Peter Harry Lewis Croker** (21 December 1921 – 7 December 2011) was an English [footballer](/source/Association_football),[2] who played as a [full-back](/source/Defender_(association_football)) in [the Football League](/source/The_Football_League) for [Charlton Athletic](/source/Charlton_Athletic_F.C.) and [Watford](/source/Watford_F.C.) and in [non-league football](/source/Non-league_football) for [Bromley](/source/Bromley_F.C.) and [Gravesend & Northfleet](/source/Ebbsfleet_United_F.C.).[3][4] Prior to his death, he was the last survivor from Charlton's [1947 FA Cup Final](/source/1947_FA_Cup_Final)-winning team.[5][6][7] He missed the [1946 FA Cup Final](/source/1946_FA_Cup_Final) through injury.[7]

## Coaching and administrative career

Beginning in 1956, Croker served Charlton Athletic as [youth team](/source/Charlton_Athletic_F.C._Under-23s_and_Academy) manager, [scout](/source/Scout_(association_football)) and assistant manager.[3] He also scouted for [Blackpool](/source/Blackpool_F.C.) and [Sunderland](/source/Sunderland_A.F.C.) and later became chairman of the [South East Counties League](/source/South_East_Counties_League).[3]

## Personal life

His great-nephew [Eric Dier](/source/Eric_Dier) is also a professional footballer. His brother [Ted Croker](/source/Ted_Croker) was the secretary of [The Football Association](/source/The_Football_Association) between 1973 and 1989. At the time of his retirement in May 1994, Croker had been working as a solicitor. Peter Croker died at age 89.[7][8]
