He known for his work in [oil paintings](/source/Oil_painting), [photographs](/source/Photograph), [tapestries](/source/Tapestry), and apparel design.[2][3] Picasshoe lives in [Riverside, California](/source/Riverside,_California).[4][5] ## Biography Perry Picasshoe was originally born in [Anaheim Hills](/source/Anaheim_Hills), but has spent most of his life in Riverside, California.[1] His birth [name](/source/Name) is Juan Carlos Hernandez Marquez but professionally goes by Perry Picasshoe, which is a name he came up with as a [teenager](/source/Adolescence) inspired by the artist [Pablo Picasso](/source/Pablo_Picasso) as well as a modern trending term “art hoe”.[1] He is a [Mexican American](/source/Mexican_Americans) [Chicano](/source/Chicano), and is gay.[6] He studied [visual arts](/source/Visual_arts) at the [University of California, Los Angeles](/source/University_of_California,_Los_Angeles) (UCLA, BA degree class of 2024).[2][6][7] During his time in college he suffered multiple [panic attacks](/source/Panic_attack).[1] ## Career His painting, *Neveah*[8] depicts what it feels to be living a [nightmare](/source/Nightmare) and [dream](/source/Dream) simultaneously. The background of [sunflowers](/source/Helianthus) and bright colors, gives a sense of [happiness](/source/Happiness), but there are small inconsistencies hidden throughout the [painting](/source/Painting) that showcase something is wrong. He found the canvas he used to paint this art piece in a trash can at UCLA.[8] Picasshoe wanted to represent [undocumented](/source/Undocumented_immigrant_population_of_the_United_States) people who were taken away unexpectedly and without [reason](/source/Reason). He saw how much [fear](/source/Fear) and [vulnerability](/source/Vulnerability) there was circulating in many of these [families](/source/Family) and wanted to do something to bring more [attention](/source/Attention) to these struggling [communities](/source/Community).
