# Perry Carter

**Perry Lynn Carter** (born August 15, 1971) is an American former professional [football](/source/American_football) player who was a [defensive back](/source/Defensive_back) in the [National Football League](/source/National_Football_League) (NFL) and [Canadian Football League](/source/Canadian_Football_League) (CFL). He played [college football](/source/College_football) for the [Southern Miss Golden Eagles](/source/Southern_Miss_Golden_Eagles_football) and was selected by the [Arizona Cardinals](/source/Arizona_Cardinals) in the fourth round of the [1994 NFL draft](/source/1994_NFL_draft).[2] Carter played for the [Kansas City Chiefs](/source/Kansas_City_Chiefs) and the [Oakland Raiders](/source/Oakland_Raiders) in the NFL. He also played in the CFL for four seasons with the [Edmonton Eskimos](/source/Edmonton_Eskimos), [Montreal Alouettes](/source/Montreal_Alouettes), and [BC Lions](/source/BC_Lions) while winning a [Grey Cup](/source/Grey_Cup) championship with the Alouettes in [2002](/source/90th_Grey_Cup). He is the former assistant defensive backs coach for the [Houston Texans](/source/Houston_Texans).

## Personal life

Carter and his wife, Nicole have two children, Bria and Perry Jr.[3] Bria was a four-year track and field letterwinner at [Houston](/source/University_of_Houston)[4] and Perry Jr. plays as a wide receiver at [Louisiana–Monroe](/source/Louisiana%E2%80%93Monroe_Warhawks_football)[5] and [Jacksonville State](/source/Jacksonville_State_Gamecocks_football).[6]
