**Perpignan station** ([French](/source/French_language): *Gare de Perpignan)* is the railway station serving the city of [Perpignan](/source/Perpignan), Pyrénées-Orientales department, [Occitanie](/source/Occitania_(administrative_region)), southern France. Part of the station was decorated in the style of [Salvador Dalí](/source/Salvador_Dal%C3%AD), for whom the place held special significance, having proclaimed it to be the "Centre of the Universe" after experiencing a vision of [cosmogonic](/source/Cosmogony) ecstasy there in 1963[2] and made a painting called *[La Gare de Perpignan](/source/La_Gare_de_Perpignan)* in 1965.

The station opened in 1858 and is located on the [Narbonne–Portbou railway](/source/Narbonne%E2%80%93Portbou_railway), [LGV Perpignan–Figueres](/source/LGV_Perpignan%E2%80%93Figueres) and Perpignan–Villefranche-de-Conflent railway. The station is served by [TGV](/source/TGV), [Intercités](/source/Intercit%C3%A9s) and [TER](/source/Transport_express_r%C3%A9gional) services operated by [SNCF](/source/SNCF). It is also served by the Spanish [AVE](/source/AVE) high-speed service operated by [Renfe](/source/Renfe) with trains to [Barcelona](/source/Barcelona_Sants_railway_station) and [Madrid](/source/Madrid_Atocha_railway_station).
