***Perophthalma*** is a very small [butterfly](/source/Butterfly) [genus](/source/Genus) in the [family](/source/Family_(taxonomy)) [Riodinidae](/source/Riodinidae). The genus comprises only two [species](/source/Species), both found only in [Central](/source/Central_America) and [South America](/source/South_America). They are commonly called **eyemarks**, alluding to the eyespot on the wings.
