***Permanent Sleep*** is the debut studio album by [Scottish](/source/Scotland) [post-punk](/source/Post-punk) band [Lowlife](/source/Lowlife_(band)). It was released in 1986 in [Scotland](/source/Scotland) by the [independent music](/source/Independent_music) [record label](/source/Record_label) Nightshift Records.[1]

## Background

*Permanent Sleep* was recorded at Palladium Studios in [Edinburgh](/source/Edinburgh), Scotland during June–July 1986.

## Reissue

The 2006 reissue by [LTM Recordings](/source/LTM_Recordings) was augmented by seven bonus tracks: the six-song [EP](/source/Extended_play) *Rain* (1985) and a slightly different version of the track "From Side to Side", taken from the band's 1987 *[Diminuendo](/source/Diminuendo_(album))* album.
