'''Pennington Field''' is a [multi-purpose stadium](/source/multi-purpose_stadium) located in [Bedford, Texas](/source/Bedford%2C_Texas). The 12,500-capacity facility is primarily used for local [high school](/source/high_school) football and [soccer](/source/Association_football) teams of [Trinity High School](/source/Trinity_High_School_(Euless%2C_Texas)) and [L.D. Bell High School](/source/L._D._Bell_High_School_(Hurst%2C_Texas)). It is owned and operated by the [Hurst-Euless-Bedford Independent School District](/source/Hurst-Euless-Bedford_Independent_School_District).

In addition to high school sports, Pennington Field was previously used by the [DFW Tornados](/source/DFW_Tornados) of the [Premier Development League](/source/Premier_Development_League) from 2004-2010, the [http://www.leaguelineup.com/welcome.asp?url=aefl&sid=1035073506 American Eightman Football League (AEFL)],<ref>{{cite web|url=http://www.leaguelineup.com/location.asp?cmenuid=13&url=aefl&sid=230915623|title=American Eightman Football League - Directions|publisher=American Eightman Football League|accessdate=2010-06-23}}</ref> and the [Red River Bowl](/source/Red_River_Bowl) for [NJCAA](/source/NJCAA). In 2024, it was announced as a practice facility for the [San Antonio Brahmas](/source/San_Antonio_Brahmas) and [Michigan Panthers](/source/Michigan_Panthers_(2022)) of the [UFL](/source/United_Football_League_(2024)).<ref>{{cite web|url=https://www.citybiz.co/article/508254/skywalker-property-partners-scores-touchdown-with-ufl-lease-in-mid-cities-office-project/|title=SkyWalker Property Partners Scores Touchdown With UFL Lease in Mid-Cities Office Project|date=2024-01-15|accessdate=2024-02-26}}<br>{{cite web|url=https://www.dallasnews.com/business/real-estate/2024/01/15/ufl-takes-offices-in-bedford-near-dfw-airport/|title=United Football League leases offices in Bedford near DFW Airport|first=Steve|last=Brown|publisher=[The Dallas Morning News](/source/The_Dallas_Morning_News)|date=2024-01-15|accessdate=2024-02-26}}</ref>

Pennington Field does not have a track around the field, partly because the city of Bedford has an ordinance requiring all tracks to be open to the public. The result is that the seats are closer to the sidelines, creating a more intimate spectator experience.<ref name="Pennington Field">{{cite web|title=HEBISD School Center - Pennington Field|url=http://schoolctr.hebisd.edu/education/dept/dept.php?sectionid=2419|publisher=Hurst-Euless-Bedford Independent School District|accessdate=December 17, 2012|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20120313131329/http://schoolctr.hebisd.edu/education/dept/dept.php?sectionid=2419|archive-date=March 13, 2012|url-status=dead}}</ref>

==History==
The name "Pennington Field" was first given to an existing American football field near what was then L. D. Bell High School (now the site of Central Junior High). The field was named for Fred Pennington, the L.D. Bell High School football coach, after his accidental death in 1962.

The stadium opened in 1987 as a state-of-the-art venue that would host not only American football games, but soccer matches and special events as well. Pennington Field is still well known in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex as one of the most advanced and high-quality high school sports stadiums in the area.{{Citation needed|date=May 2007}} In June 2010, the stadium's playing surface was replaced with a new Hellas Matrix turf.<ref name="turf2010">{{cite web|url=http://schoolctr.hebisd.edu/education/components/scrapbook/default.php?sectiondetailid=56505&|title=Pennington Field - Turf / Playing Surface|publisher=Hurst-Euless-Bedford ISD|accessdate=2010-06-23|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20110718172433/http://schoolctr.hebisd.edu/education/components/scrapbook/default.php?sectiondetailid=56505&|archive-date=2011-07-18|url-status=dead}}</ref> The [artificial turf](/source/artificial_turf) field is specially engineered to allow for proper drainage.
