**Penn** is an [unincorporated community](/source/Unincorporated_area) and former railway station in [Lane County](/source/Lane_County,_Oregon), in the [U.S. state](/source/U.S._state) of [Oregon](/source/Oregon). It was named for the Penn Timber Company, which operated in the vicinity.[1]

Penn lies along Penn Road between [Walton](/source/Walton,_Oregon) and Flagg in the [Central Oregon Coast Range](/source/Central_Oregon_Coast_Range) east of [Florence](/source/Florence,_Oregon). [Wildcat Creek](/source/Wildcat_Creek_(Siuslaw_River)), a tributary of the [Siuslaw River](/source/Siuslaw_River), flows by Penn.[2]

The name of the post office for Penn was *McGlynn*. Postal officials rejected *Penn* as the name for the office because it might be confused with other entities. They approved *McGlynn*, named after Thomas McGlynn, who owned the land where the post office was established. The McGlynn post office opened in 1923 and closed in 1938.[1]
