**Pemba North Region** or **North Pemba Region** ([Swahili](/source/Swahili_language): *Mkoa wa Pemba Kaskazini*) is one of the 31 [regions of Tanzania](/source/Regions_of_Tanzania). The region covers an area of 574 km2 (222 sq mi).[3][*[failed verification](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Verifiability)*] The administrative region is located entirely on the island of [Pemba](/source/Pemba_Island). Pemba North Region is bordered to the north by the [Indian Ocean](/source/Indian_Ocean), south by the [Pemba South Region](/source/Pemba_South_Region) and the west by the [Pemba Channel](/source/Pemba_Channel). The regional capital is [Wete](/source/Wete).[4][*[failed verification](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Verifiability)*] According to the 2012 census, the region has a total population of 211,732.[5]
