The narrow leaves are lobed or compound, the lower on long [petioles](/source/petiole_(botany)). The woolly, many-flowered [inflorescence](/source/inflorescence) is dense when new, elongating with maturity. The corolla is up to 2 centimeters long and is usually dark pink, but sometimes white. It is surrounded by toothed [sepal](/source/sepal)s. The fruit is a flat, beaked capsule {{convert|8|-|13|mm}} long. The seeds have a honeycomb-patterned surface.<ref name=flora>[http://www.flora.dempstercountry.org/0.Site.Folder/Species.Program/Species2.php?species_id=Pedi.lana ''Pedicularis lanata''.] Central Yukon Species Inventory Project (CYSIP).
